RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION

*** MULTI-MEDIA FATE MODELING ***

 

Research assistant positions are available for M.S. students who are interested in contributing to research studies on multi-media fate modeling. (Distinguished undergraduate students will also be considered for the position.)

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The main tasks and responsibilities of the research assistant will be:

  • to prepare data sets for global- and regional-scale multi-media fate and transport models
  • to conduct model simulations
  • to analyze simulation results
  • to test the model programs
  • to develop new models
  • to prepare scientific reports of the research activities
  • to publish the research results as high-quality peer-reviewed articles
  • to actively contribute to the research environment in the department.

 

QUALITIES:

The research assistant candidate should have:

  • a distinguished academical record (undergraduate GPA > 2.5)
  • good English language skills (very good reading and writing skills)
  • success in engineering courses such as Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Thermodynamics, Computer Programming, Numerical Analysis, etc.
  • success in environmental science and engineering courses such as Environmental Chemistry, Organic Pollutants, Hydrology, Environmental Modeling, etc.
  • proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python)
  • computing and data analysis skills using Matlab and spreadsheet software
  • curiosity, strong desire to learn, and high motivation (personal characteristics will be considered).
